For our purposes this area encompasses those areas outside the
immediate Kuala Lumpur city centre. Briefly these areas are:
Petaling Jaya. Known locally as PJ, is just 11 km southwest
from downtown KL. Originally a mining area, PJ has been transformed
into a modern town of universities, hospitals and businesses.
This is Kuala Lumpur's fully integrated development with the
Sunway Lagoon at the heart of it all.
Shah Alam. Continuing past Petaling Jaya about an hour from
downtown KL is Shah Alam. When the city of Kuala Lumpur was
elevated to the status of Federal Territory Shah Alam became
the capital of Selangor state. Hotels serve business travelers
to this primarily industrial area.
Cyber Jaya. Malaysia's silicon valley, Cyber Jaya is a planned
to foster development of Malaysia's Information Technology industry.
Putra Jaya. Putra Jaya is where most government offices are
now located. As such unless you are on official business with
a government office chances are you won't be going to Putra
Jaya. Note: If you plan to visit either Cyber Jaya or Putra
Jaya it is best to hire a taxi for the day. It's relatively
easy to get to either one but taxis are few and far between
once you are there. FYI, in order to remain objective, hotels
are listed alphabetically (in this case, first by area then
by name). We don't favor any hotel for any reason. |
